BUCKS COUNTY SHOOT

For some members of our club the Saturday activities had not yet come to an end as the club had been asked to help move all the equipment for the Bucks County Shoot from the Aylesbury Rugby Club grounds in Western Turville to the shoot grounds on the other side of Aylesbury. So thanks to Steve Sharratt, Justyn Fowler, Nick Skegg and Tim Skegg who were at Western Turville by 14:30 to help load the equipment onto the lorry and then at the shooting ground to unload and set up the field which took the rest of that afternoon.

Eight members of our club were present at 09:30 on Sunday for the start of the shoot, these being Julie Morling, Tony White, Steve Sharratt, Justyn Fowler, Sam Fowler, Nick Skegg, Tim Skegg and Toria Greening ( who was also the Lady Paramount for the shoot). The tournament round was a York for Gents (6/4/2 dozen at 100/80/60 yards) or a Hereford for Ladies (6/4/2 dozen at 80/60/50 yards). The conditions were good on the day although the wind was a bit blustery and swirled somewhat at the target end but before you all think that this is the start of the normal archery excuses the club was very successful. We walked away with all the senior county recurve trophies and the gents barebow trophy.
Julie Morling collected the Ladies County Recurve Trophy with Sam Fowler taking second place;
Justyn Fowler collected the Gents County Recurve Trophy;
Tim Skegg collected the Gents County Barebow Trophy;
Julie Morling, Sam Fowler, Justyn Fowler and Tony White collected the Team County Recurve Trophy

Congratulations to all of them for the success achieved. Unfortunately we do not have a tem photo yet as by the time the county organisers finally got through all the results we were all so frozen that we just ran for our cars to get warm. We will try to organise a team photo in club colours as soon as possible.

Diana 2009

This weekend seven members from our club attended the Diana tournament held by the Harlequin Bowmen, at Harwell in Oxfordshire. The round shoot was an Albion and our archers were Sam Fowler, Justyn Fowler, Tim Griffiths, Steve Sharratt, Nick Skegg, Tim Skegg and Tony White. In the Diana the top four scores (which must include a lady) from each club become the club team for the event and it was a team from Whiteleaf that won. So please join me in congratulating Sam Fowler, Justyn Fowler, Tony White and Nick Skegg who were the top four Whiteleaf archers and won the event by over 30 points. As you can see from the attached photo they were much pleased with their success and so they should be.
